The ASUS TUF Gaming F17, being a gaming laptop, offers high performance for tasks like 3D modeling, machine learning, and gaming due to its dedicated RTX 3050 Ti graphics card, but it may not be as portable and has less battery life compared to the HP Spectre x360. On the other hand, the Spectre x360, while not designed specifically for gaming, features a newer and powerful processor with integrated graphics, and it boasts a high-resolution touchscreen, making it more suitable for general use and tasks that benefit from a touch interface. The Spectre x360 is also lighter and has a significantly longer battery life, making it more portable and better for on-the-go use or business environments. Both laptops are similarly priced with 512 GB of storage, but the Spectre comes with more RAM. If you prioritize portability, long battery life, and a touch screen, the HP Spectre x360 may be the better choice, while the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is likely more suitable for gaming and graphics-intensive tasks. The HP Spectre x360 is very good for general use, while the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is good.
The HP Spectre x360 outperforms the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 in general use mainly because it has a more powerful CPU, double the RAM, a higher resolution touchscreen display with better color accuracy, and appreciably longer battery life. While the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 offers a larger screen and dedicated GPU, which may be better for certain games or tasks requiring graphics performance, its bulkier build and shorter battery life make it less portable and less suited to on-the-go usage compared to the lighter, more compact HP Spectre x360 with its superior screen and battery performance.

The HP Spectre x360 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, where panel type, resolution, and brightness play pivotal roles, the ASUS TUF F17 provides an adequate display but the HP Spectre x360 excels with higher resolution and brightness, making for a crisp and vibrant viewing experience. In engineering and design, accurate color reproduction is essential; the HP Spectre x360 shines with its superior color gamut, helping professionals in those fields with more precise color work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the high refresh rate is crucial for smooth visuals, and the ASUS TUF F17, while offering an acceptable display, falls behind in providing the fluidity that high refresh-rate panels deliver.

The HP Spectre x360 and ASUS TUF Gaming F17 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 has a decent dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU and a high screen refresh rate, making it suitable for gaming and 3D applications, but the HP Spectre x360, with its integrated Iris Xe graphics, prioritizes screen quality over refresh rate, offering a higher resolution for sharper images but a lower refresh rate, which is still competent for gaming and 3D but more attuned to general-purpose and multimedia use. While the ASUS offers a gaming-focused experience, the HP Spectre provides a balanced one with its superior screen quality and CPU but at the expense of a lower refresh rate and gaming-specific graphics performance.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the HP Spectre x360 compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"As we said, Lenovo's Yoga 9i is a tough competitor to the Spectre with an equally admirable OLED display. We're sad that neither of them has an HDMI port nor a niche or slot to hold the stylus, though the HP wins points for its bundled mini docking station and magnetically attached pen. Your choice will come down to screen shape—and in our eyes, just as seeing an OLED screen spoils you for an IPS panel, enjoying a tall 3:2 display spoils you for a more conventional view. The HP Spectre x360 13.5 is our new favorite 2-in-1."
