The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 offers a larger screen and lower weight, suitable for immersive gaming experiences and slightly better portability. However, the Dell G15 5520 boasts superior performance with a faster processor, more memory, and a more powerful graphics card, which makes it better for intensive engineering tasks, 3D rendering, and machine learning. It also has a higher resolution screen and longer battery life, enhancing productivity and multimedia consumption. Both laptops are at a similar price point, but you'll notice that the Dell trades some portability for increased performance and battery life. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 is considered very good for engineering and design use due to its higher-powered Intel i7 processor, double the RAM, and superior Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU compared to the ASUS TUF Gaming F17, which has an Intel i5 processor, less RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU. Both laptops have quality IPS displays, but the higher screen pixel density and color accuracy of the Dell, combined with its slightly better portability and quieter operating noise, make it more suitable for the demands of intensive engineering tasks.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 for gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, where clarity, resolution, and brightness are key, both the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the Dell G15 5520 display content clearly and brightly, making text and images easy to see, but for detailed engineering and design work, the Dell offers a wider color range, providing more accurate colors that professionals need. However, in the context of gaming and 3D applications, where smooth motion is crucial, neither laptop excels due to lower refresh rates, meaning they won't provide the most fluid visual experience demanded by fast-paced games or 3D rendering.

The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 has 4.5 hours of battery life. The Dell G15 5520 has 6 hours of battery life.

"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
