The Dell G15 5520 is better suited for intensive gaming and engineering tasks as it is equipped with a more powerful graphics card, which also benefits 3D and machine learning performance. However, it's less portable due to its weight, and it has a shorter battery life. The HP Envy 17, in contrast, offers a larger screen with touch capability, better battery life, and it's slightly lighter, making it more portable, but lacks the gaming and engineering performance of the Dell due to its integrated graphics. Choose the Dell if performance is a priority and the HP if you favor screen size, touch capability, and portability. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the HP Envy 17 for gaming and AI, and content creation.
Both the Dell G15 5520 and HP Envy 17 laptops offer panels with adequate resolution and brightness, making them suitable for everyday tasks like web browsing, document editing, and watching videos. For engineers and designers, these laptops provide decent color accuracy which is essential for precise work, but do not cover the wider color gamuts completely. However, for gaming and 3D applications, their screens fall short due to lower refresh rates, which can lead to less smooth visuals during fast-paced scenes or while working with motion graphics.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the HP Envy 17 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"In our test, the HP Envy 17-cr0079ng presents itself as a balanced multimedia laptop. Thanks to its solid CPU performance and dedicated entry-level GeForce, it can also be used for playing video games, as long as the demands aren't too high. Those looking for more can find it in the Dell XPS 17 for example."
