The Acer Nitro 5 15 offers better performance in general use, 3D and machine learning tasks, and engineering-related tasks due to its more advanced GPU. It comes with more RAM, which will provide smoother multitasking and can handle more demanding applications. However, the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 has a larger screen, which might be preferable for gaming or multimedia consumption, even though its performance is slightly lower in comparison. Both have similar portability, with the Acer being subtly lighter, while the ASUS has a slightly larger frame due to the larger screen. Bear in mind that the ASUS might be more expensive and also has a shorter battery life. If portability and battery life are crucial to you, and you're okay with sacrificing some screen size and a bit of performance, the Acer might serve you better, but if screen size is more important for your gaming or viewing experiences, the ASUS could be the way to go. The Acer Nitro 5 15 and ASUS TUF Gaming F17 are both good for general use, though the Acer Nitro 5 15 is somewhat better.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 delivers better general use performance due to its superior central processing unit (CPU) and double the random-access memory (RAM) of the ASUS TUF Gaming F17, which translates into faster and more efficient multitasking capabilities. While both have similar screen qualities, the Acer's marginally better battery life and portability make it more suitable for day-to-day tasks, despite the ASUS having a larger screen which might be preferable for visual tasks but at the cost of decreased portability and battery performance.

The Acer Nitro 5 15 is good for engineering and design, while the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is only fair.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 is equipped with a newer CPU and a more powerful GPU, which makes it ideal for demanding engineering and design tasks that require high processing and graphics capabilities, alongside with a better screen quality due to higher brightness and contrast. In comparison, the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 offers a larger screen for more expansive viewing but comes with less RAM and an older generation CPU, slightly compromising multitasking and computational performance, though it may be preferred for tasks necessitating a bigger display. Both laptops may pose challenges in portability and operating noise for mobile users or those in quiet environments.

The Acer Nitro 5 15 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 for software development, and content creation.
When considering general use, both the Acer Nitro 5 15 and ASUS TUF Gaming F17 provide screens with satisfactory resolution and brightness, ensuring a clear and vivid display for everyday tasks and media consumption. For engineering and design, the screens may lack in comprehensive color coverage, meaning they won't display the full spectrum of colors professionals may require for precision work. In gaming and 3D applications, the lower refresh rates of these laptops' displays could lead to less fluid motion and slower response times, which may be a disadvantage for fast-paced or visually intensive tasks.

How the Acer Nitro 5 15 and the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
