The Gateway 14.1" is a budget-friendly option with basic capabilities, suitable for general use like web browsing and document editing. It's lightweight and has good portability, but the performance may not meet the needs of more demanding applications. The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro, on the other hand, is mid-range priced and offers significantly better performance for tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming due to its powerful processor and graphics card. Although it is heavier, which affects portability, it has a longer battery life and higher-quality screen, making it well-suited for intensive tasks and engineering use. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | September 2021
"The Gateway Ultra Slim 14" is surprisingly quiet with long battery life. The inexpensive Gateway excels at maximizing performance per dollar with lots of RAM and storage, super-quiet fan, and a long battery life. It can even house up to two M.2 SSDs which we weren't expecting from such a cheap system. However, the iffy reliability of the keyboard and USB-C port on our test unit means users should double-check for these potential issues immediately after purchasing."

PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2023
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
