The ASUS R410MA will generally give you superior performance and quality compared to the Gateway 14.1" due to better components and build, but it is more expensive. If you are on a tight budget and looking for something more cost-effective, the Gateway might be suitable for everyday tasks and is also slightly lighter for better portability. However, if your tasks are more demanding and involve heavier computing or you desire a higher-quality display and build, investing in the ASUS could provide a more satisfying long-term experience. Keep in mind that factors like battery life and specific feature needs (like ports or operating system preference) should also inform your decision. Give Feedback

The Gateway 14.1" has a better screen than the ASUS R410MA for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
If you prioritize a sharper and more vivid display for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing, the Gateway 14.1" would be a more suitable choice than the ASUS R410MA, as it offers a fair screen quality with better resolution and brightness, which enhances the overall visual experience. For engineering and design work that relies on precise colors, the Gateway again provides an edge due to its fair color accuracy and range, making it more suitable than the ASUS for tasks like photo editing or CAD work, though neither may be ideal for high-end professional use. When it comes to gaming or working with 3D graphics, where fast on-screen action is common, neither laptop is optimal due to their lower refresh rates, but the Gateway's fair resolution and panel type still give it the lead over the ASUS for these uses.

The ASUS R410MA and Gateway 14.1" laptops are considered poor for general use partly due to their underwhelming Intel Celeron N4020 CPU and 4 GB of RAM which may not offer sufficient multitasking capability and speed for demanding applications. Moreover, although the Gateway model has a higher screen quality with its Full HD IPS display compared to the ASUS's HD TN panel, both have limited storage space and low keyboard quality, which impact their overall usability for a variety of tasks.

How the ASUS R410MA and the Gateway 14.1" compare to other laptops
"The Asus Laptop L410 is a super-affordable PC, even among budget notebooks, compromising on the display and processing power to deliver a serviceable Windows machine with good battery life and useful ports. The build is reasonably solid, there’s a good mix of ports, battery life is long enough, and it can perform basic everyday tasks. On the flip side, the screen is poor, anything other than basic tasks is a tough ask, and it has little memory and even less storage."
"The Gateway Ultra Slim 14" is surprisingly quiet with long battery life. The inexpensive Gateway excels at maximizing performance per dollar with lots of RAM and storage, super-quiet fan, and a long battery life. It can even house up to two M.2 SSDs which we weren't expecting from such a cheap system. However, the iffy reliability of the keyboard and USB-C port on our test unit means users should double-check for these potential issues immediately after purchasing."
