The Dell Inspiron 15 3520 is less expensive and provides a solid performance for general use with decent battery life and portability, but it's less suited for tasks like 3D rendering or engineering. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" costs more but offers a touch screen, better performance for engineering and 3D/machine learning applications, and a more powerful CPU. If budget is a priority and you do not need advanced computing capabilities, the Dell may suit you. However, if you require a laptop for more intensive tasks and appreciate a touch screen, the Lenovo may justify the extra cost. Both have similar portability and screen size. Give Feedback

The Dell Inspiron 15 3520 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a better screen for content creation, and software development.
When considering screen quality for general use, the Dell Inspiron 15 3520's and Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15"'s displays provide adequate resolution and brightness for daily tasks like browsing and streaming, but may lack the clarity and vibrancy found in higher-end panels. For engineering and design, these laptops have fair color accuracy but may not fully cover professional color gamuts, which could limit the precision needed for color-sensitive work. Gamers and 3D designers could find the refresh rates on both models limiting, as they don't support the smooth motion required for high-speed gaming or fluid 3D rendering, although their resolution and panel technology are sufficient for moderate use.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" and Dell Inspiron 15 3520 are both only fair for engineering and design.
The Dell Inspiron 15 3520, with its Intel i3 processor and integrated graphics, is considered fair for engineering and design use due to its adequate CPU and GPU for entry-level tasks but not for heavy computational work; its Full HD screen and color coverage are sufficient for basic design work but won't match the fidelity required by professionals. Similarly, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" with a more powerful AMD Ryzen 7 processor and Vega 8 GPU is fair for such tasks as it offers better performance, but the screen's color range still limits it primarily to non-professional design work, and while its portability is slightly better, both models have keyboards, speakers, and operating noise at levels acceptable but not outstanding.

How the Dell Inspiron 15 3520 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"Dell's Inspiron 15 (3525) is a peppy-enough and affordable-enough home or remote work machine, but it's not very ambitious; it does little to go beyond the basics. More the concern: It’s readily overshadowed by a number of machines that outperform and outclass it. Even if the Inspiron can get the job done today, its competition has the mettle to keep doing the job tomorrow in a way the Inspiron simply can’t promise. Plus, those alternatives are much more enjoyable after work."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
