The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is a lower midrange priced laptop that comes with a 512 GB storage, 12 GB RAM, and an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U main processor with integrated Vega 8 graphics, making it suitable for general daily tasks and light gaming. It has a 15.6-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, providing decent color and viewing angles. The battery life is good for typical usage. The laptop has a fair portability score due to its weight and size, which also supports its use as a home or office laptop rather than a device for constant travel. It offers a solid keyboard, fair speaker and build quality, and good general use performance; however, for tasks that involve 3D rendering, machine learning, or intensive engineering, the performance may be less optimal. Screen colors are fair, making it satisfactory for general use but less ideal for precise color work. It has a range of ports including USB-C, HDMI, and an Ethernet port, enhancing connectivity. The IdeaPad 1 15" could be a good choice if you need a budget-friendly laptop for everyday use, with the capability of handling moderate multitasking and casual entertainment. Give Feedback

Ratings by Category

Operating Noise:
4.9
PerfectRec’s Operating Noise Score is based on fan noise measurements. Laptops with a fanless design, such as Macbooks, receive the maximum score.
Battery Life:
4.4
PerfectRec’s Battery Life rating is based on hours of battery life in typical usage scenarios.
Portability:
4.3
PerfectRec’s portability rating takes into account the volume and thickness of the laptop as well as its weight.
General Use:
4.2
The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is recommended for general use because it offers a capable AMD Ryzen CPU and ample RAM, which means it performs well in everyday tasks, and its IPS screen with full HD resolution provides good visual clarity. Moreover, its lightweight design and decent battery life make it highly portable, while the overall good build quality ensures it handles regular use without significant heat or noise issues.
Content Creation:
4.2
PerfectRec’s Content Creation Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for photo editing, and video editing work. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. Heat management, storage, keyboard and speaker quality are also incorporated, with fan noise rounding out this score.
Software Development:
4.1
PerfectRec’s Software Development Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for software development. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. Engineering & Design:
3.7
The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a capable AMD Ryzen 7 processor and substantial RAM, which are good for engineering tasks, but its integrated GPU and moderate screen quality limit performance for intensive design work and color-accurate tasks. It's lightweight and fairly thin, aiding portability, yet the screen and speaker quality, along with the cooling and noise output, are just adequate, not excelling for prolonged, demanding use.
General Use Screen Quality:
3.6
The general use screen score is based on the screen technology, contrast ratio, resolution, brightness, color gamut and color accuracy. This score does not take into account specialized display features for specific use cases, such as high refresh rate for gaming.
Keyboard Quality:
3.5
The Keyboard Quality score is based on the PerfectRec experts’ assessment of tactile feedback, typing comfort, keyboard reliability and typing noise.
Gaming & AI:
3.2
The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has an integrated GPU, which is less powerful than dedicated gaming graphics cards, compromising its performance for gaming and 3D applications. Additionally, its screen refresh rate is standard at 60Hz, which is fine for casual gaming but may not deliver as smooth an experience for fast-paced or professional-level gaming that benefits from higher refresh rates.
Build Quality:
3.0
PerfectRec’s Build Quality Score incorporates case materials, display and keyboard flex, hinge quality, chassis rigidity, and overall reliability. Our assessment of build quality includes many details that are difficult to quantify. Our laptop experts use their best judgment to produce the final score.

Alex Iliev | April 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
