The Gigabyte Aero 17 and Dell G15 5520 are both very good for engineering and design, though the Gigabyte Aero 17 is somewhat better.
The Dell G15 5520 and the Gigabyte Aero 17 are both excellent for engineering and design thanks to their powerful Intel i7 processors, ample RAM, and robust Nvidia RTX GPUs, offering strong performance in demanding applications; the Aero 17 further stands out with a high-resolution Mini LED screen for precise color work, though it's less portable than the Dell G15. While both laptops feature quality keyboards and manageable operating noise, the Gigabyte Aero 17's superior graphics capability and screen may justify its slight edge in weight and size for those prioritizing visual performance.

The Gigabyte Aero 17 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
If you prioritize a stunning display with accurate colors for professional work like engineering and design, the Gigabyte Aero 17 stands out with its superior color range, making it ideal for tasks that require color precision. However, for gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is key, both laptops aren't ideal since a high refresh rate is critical and neither excel in this aspect. The Dell G15, while adequate for everyday tasks with a decent display in terms of brightness and resolution, may not impress those with a keen eye for crisp visuals and vibrant colors in professional settings.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Gigabyte Aero 17 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"Not only is the Aero 17 a very good laptop for gamers but also for content creators. With the upgrade to the Intel Core i9-11980HK, Gigabyte particularly improved the system performance. In addition, the hardware package is rounded by the extremely fast SSD and 32 GB of working memory in dual-channel mode. Compared to the predecessor, the battery life is reduced only moderately, and the 4K display also basically keeps its good qualities."
