The Gigabyte Aero 17 offers a high-resolution Mini LED display which is great for color-intensive tasks, but it's heavier and has shorter battery life, making it less portable. It's also usually more expensive. The HP Omen 17, on the other hand, while it may have a slightly lower screen resolution with its IPS panel, comes with a more powerful graphics card that is better for gaming and 3D tasks, and it generally costs less. If gaming performance and a more friendly price are your priorities, the HP Omen 17 may be the better choice; however, for outstanding screen quality and intensive color work, the Gigabyte Aero 17 could be preferable despite its less impressive portability and higher price. The HP Omen 17 is excellent for gaming and AI, while the Gigabyte Aero 17 is good.
The Gigabyte Aero 17 stands out in gaming and 3D performance with a top-tier Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti graphics card and a Mini LED screen that boasts a high brightness and color accuracy, offering immersive visuals at a 120Hz refresh rate. Comparatively, the HP Omen 17 features a more powerful Nvidia RTX 4080 GPU suited for intensive gaming and 3D tasks, paired with an IPS display that offers a higher 165Hz refresh rate for extremely smooth visuals, albeit with slightly lower color space coverage.

The Gigabyte Aero 17 has a better screen than the HP Omen 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Gigabyte Aero 17 offers a high-resolution display and vibrant color accuracy crucial for engineering and design tasks, while its lesser refresh rate makes it less ideal for gaming and 3D applications. The HP Omen 17, with a very good resolution and brightness, suits general use very well but falls short for gaming due to its lower refresh rate, and while it is good for engineering and design, it may not match the Aero 17's color reproduction. Since both laptops lack the high refresh rates prized in gaming laptops, neither is optimal for gaming or 3D rendering where smooth motion and quick screen updates are key.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Gigabyte Aero 17 to be very good for general use, while the HP Omen 17 is good.
The Gigabyte Aero 17 is well-regarded for general use due to its high-resolution mini LED screen that provides excellent color fidelity and brightness, paired with a strong CPU and ample RAM, making it efficient for a variety of tasks, although its portability and battery life are compromised due to its larger size and higher performance traits. The HP Omen 17 offers a balance between performance, with a robust CPU and capable GPU for demanding applications, and portability with a slightly better but still moderate battery life and a display that, while lower resolution than the Aero, still delivers good color accuracy and contrast for general multimedia use.

How the Gigabyte Aero 17 and the HP Omen 17 compare to other laptops
"Not only is the Aero 17 a very good laptop for gamers but also for content creators. With the upgrade to the Intel Core i9-11980HK, Gigabyte particularly improved the system performance. In addition, the hardware package is rounded by the extremely fast SSD and 32 GB of working memory in dual-channel mode. Compared to the predecessor, the battery life is reduced only moderately, and the 4K display also basically keeps its good qualities."
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
