The Dell G15 5520 offers good performance at a lower price, particularly suitable for gaming and general use, but it comes with a heavier build which affects its portability. As for the Gigabyte Aero 16, it has a higher price tag, but it provides a superior display and is lighter, making it desirable for creative professionals and those who prioritize display quality and portability. When choosing between the two, consider if the improved display and lower weight of the Aero 16 justify the higher cost over the Dell's generally lower price and robust performance. Consider your specific needs, such as whether battery life, screen quality, or portability aligns with your intended use cases, such as general browsing, professional creative work, or gaming. The Gigabyte Aero 16 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Dell G15 5520, with its ample resolution and brightness, provides a satisfactory display for general tasks and supports common engineering work with decent color representation, but its lower refresh rate isn't ideal for the fast-paced visual demands of gaming and 3D content. Conversely, the Gigabyte Aero 16 excels in engineering and design applications due to its superior color accuracy and wider color gamuts, ensuring precise color work, while maintaining very good visual quality for general use with its high resolution and brightness. However, much like the Dell, it falls short for gaming and 3D because its refresh rate isn't aligned with the high-speed visuals these activities typically require.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Gigabyte Aero 16 to be very good for general use, while the Dell G15 5520 is good.
The Dell G15 5520 is well-suited for general use with its solid processor and sizable RAM, satisfactory display and battery life, and a balanced keyboard, though it's not the lightest for portability. In contrast, the Gigabyte Aero 16 also provides an excellent general-use experience, offering a high-quality screen with better color representation and a larger battery, but you may find it less convenient to carry due to a potentially shorter battery life despite its lighter weight.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Gigabyte Aero 16 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The Gigabyte Aero 16 is a workstation laptop for light gaming. It's design is still muted, with a silver chassis alongside a black keyboard and trackpad that provides some contrast. The Gigabyte Aero’s full-size chiclet-style keyboard is enjoyable to type on thanks to its snappy feel and responsiveness. The 4K+ AMOLED display is good, but it could be better. It doesn’t handle true black very well and suffers from strong reflections and glare. The Gigabyte Aero excels at productivity performance and can keep up with other gaming laptops in 1080p. But it has very few ports and its refresh rate leaves a bit to be desired."
