If you need a laptop with higher performance for 3D applications, machine learning, or gaming, the Dell G15 5520 is well-equipped with a dedicated Nvidia graphics card and a powerful Intel processor. However, it is heavier and has a shorter battery life, making it less portable. On the other hand, the Dell Inspiron 14 7425 offers a balance with its AMD processor and integrated graphics, which are suitable for general use and engineering tasks. It has a longer battery life and is significantly lighter, enhancing its portability. Both laptops have similar RAM and are priced closely, but you will compromise on storage capacity with the Inspiron at half that of the G15. The Inspiron also has a touchscreen and a more color-accurate display, which might be beneficial for creative tasks. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 14 7425 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Dell G15 5520 likely offers a balance of resolution and brightness suitable for engaging with documents and media, making it good for general use, while its strong color gamut supports precision in tasks like CAD or photo editing, benefiting engineering and design work. However, for gaming and 3D applications which require smooth motion, the laptop's lower refresh rate can lead to less fluid visuals, causing its screen quality to be perceived as poor in this context. The Dell Inspiron 14 7425, while maintaining fair screen quality with acceptable resolution and brightness for everyday tasks and basic design work, falls short in both advanced color rendition for professional design and the high refresh rates sought after in gaming and 3D rendering.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Dell Inspiron 14 7425 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"Overall, this Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 offers a lot to like, especially at its oft-discounted price of $800. It’s a sturdy laptop with strong performance, a convertible touchscreen, loud speakers, and a convenient fingerprint reader. But the trade-offs you’ll make in pursuit of that lower price—most notably the dim display and stiff trackpad—might just keep you from outright loving it."
