If you require a laptop for general use with a larger screen and prioritize portability and battery life on a budget, the ASUS Vivobook 17 is an appropriate choice. Conversely, if your work involves 3D rendering, machine learning, gaming, or engineering applications, and you need higher performance with better heat management, even though the Dell G15 5520 is less portable and more expensive, it will serve those needs more effectively due to its superior processor, graphics card, and larger RAM and storage capacity. Both laptops are not ideal for intensive gaming, but the Dell G15 5520 is more capable in this respect. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 and ASUS Vivobook 17 are both good for general use, though the Dell G15 5520 is somewhat better.
The ASUS Vivobook 17's lower-end CPU and less RAM make it less capable for demanding tasks compared to the Dell G15 5520, which boasts a higher-tier CPU and double the RAM, enhancing its general use capabilities. Furthermore, the Dell provides superior storage and a higher quality keyboard, but is less portable and has a shorter battery life, making the ASUS more suitable for on-the-go usage despite its modest performance.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 17's display offers adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing, but it may lack the wide color gamut needed for precision in engineering and design tasks. The Dell G15 5520 provides a good balance of resolution, brightness, and color accuracy, making it suitable for both general use and detail-oriented work like CAD or photo editing. However, for gaming and 3D applications where higher refresh rates are crucial for smooth visuals, both laptops fall short as they prioritize resolution and color over rapid frame delivery.

"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
