The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 offers robust gaming performance with a dedicated RTX 3050 Ti GPU, a 144Hz display, and a larger 17.3-inch screen, lending itself well to gaming and visually intensive tasks. However, its heavier weight makes it less portable, and its battery life doesn't match up to some competitors. On the other side, the Dell XPS 15 is more portable with its lighter weight and significantly longer battery life, coupled with a high-resolution 16:10 display that adds vertical space beneficial for productivity tasks. The XPS's keyboard, build quality, and speaker system are superior, but its Intel Arc A370M graphics may not be as powerful for heavy 3D tasks compared to the ASUS's RTX 3050 Ti. Both laptops are similarly priced, with the Dell XPS packing more RAM, which helps in multitasking and complex tasks, but for raw gaming performance, the ASUS might be the more suitable option. The Dell XPS 15 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F17, despite its gaming branding, has a screen that doesn't excel in refresh rate which is crucial for smooth visuals in gaming and 3D applications, but it offers a balance of resolution and brightness suitable for everyday tasks. The Dell XPS 15, on the other hand, shines with its high-resolution display that offers vibrant colors across wider color gamuts, making it ideal for precise engineering and design work; however, it too falls short in the refresh rate department, limiting its capabilities for gaming and 3D content. Both laptops provide ample screen quality for general use through their bright, high-resolution displays, but their lack of high refresh rates makes them less optimal for fast-paced gaming or 3D rendering.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the Dell XPS 15 compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"The 2023 Dell XPS 15 is more or less exactly what you'd expect from the company flagship. Its fresh components deliver measurably superior power and longevity, while the machine's premium build and design remain intact. It may not be overly exciting, but XPS loyalists and upgraders should be more than happy."
