For a balance of performance and portability with a focus on gaming and engineering tasks, the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is a solid choice with its dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU and higher refresh rate screen, though it's larger and heavier. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED offers a more vibrant and color-accurate OLED display, making it excellent for general use and content consumption, and it's more compact and lightweight, but it may not handle intensive gaming or engineering software as well due to its integrated Intel Arc graphics. If you prioritize a superior screen experience and portability for everyday tasks, go for the Vivobook S 15 OLED; if you need stronger gaming and engineering performance and can compromise on portability, the TUF Gaming F17 is the way to go. How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"The Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED excels as a capable work machine at an affordable price. It offers commendable performance, thanks to its 12th Gen Intel chip, delivers quality on-screen entertainment with its 15.6-inch OLED display, and can (kind of) get you through a full day of work. Oh, and its special Asus Antibacterial Guard is a nice touch for those who like a clean laptop."
