The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is a better choice if you prioritize gaming or 3D tasks as it has a dedicated graphics card and a higher refresh rate display, which is beneficial for fast-paced visuals. However, it's heavier and less portable compared to the ASUS Vivobook 17, which is lighter and offers a longer battery life, making it a better option for general use like web browsing, document editing, and media consumption. The Vivobook is also more budget-friendly while the TUF Gaming F17, although more expensive, offers improved performance for gaming and engineering applications. If portability and cost are your main concerns, go with the Vivobook 17, but if you need better performance for intensive tasks, the TUF Gaming F17 would be preferable. Give Feedback

The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and ASUS Vivobook 17 are both only fair for engineering and design, though the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is somewhat better.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 offers better performance for engineering and design due to its superior dedicated graphics card, the Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti, and a more powerful Intel i5 processor compared to the ASUS Vivobook 17's integrated graphics and Intel i3 processor. While the Vivobook 17 is more portable and has quieter operating noise, the TUF Gaming F17's higher screen refresh rate and more robust hardware make it more suitable for tasks requiring intensive graphical processing and multitasking.

The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 17 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook 17 has a better screen for content creation.
When considering the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and ASUS Vivobook 17 for general use, the screen quality is primarily influenced by the sharpness of the image, panel brightness, and viewing angles, which affect how text, images, and video are displayed under various lighting conditions and seating positions. For engineering and design, having a wider color gamut is crucial as it allows for more accurate color representation, which is essential for tasks like photo editing or CAD work; however, these models provide only fair color coverage, which can be insufficient for professional color work. On the other hand, for 3D and gaming, a high refresh rate ensures smoother visuals and better responsiveness, an area where both these laptops may not excel, along with moderate resolution and panel type, leading to a less than ideal gaming experience.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the ASUS Vivobook 17 compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
