For superior performance in 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 stands out with its high-end graphics card and processor. It also offers a larger screen with a higher refresh rate, which is ideal for intensive gaming and multitasking. However, this comes at the cost of portability, as it is heavier and has a larger footprint than the Dell G15 5520. The Dell G15 5520, on the other hand, is more portable and offers better battery life, making it suitable for on-the-go use and general tasks, while costing less. If maximum performance is less critical and value for money is important, the Dell would be the better option. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G18 offers excellent visuals for general activities and design work with its high-resolution display and wide color coverage, ensuring crisp, vibrant images. Its screen quality is deemed poor for gaming and 3D due to a lower refresh rate, which is less ideal for the fast-paced, fluid motion that gamers seek. Conversely, the Dell G15 5520 provides suitable quality for everyday tasks and engineering with decent resolution and color accuracy but falls short for gaming and 3D endeavors for the same reasons, lacking the high refresh rate that brings games to life.

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 outshines in general use chiefly due to its superior CPU and RAM, providing faster and smoother multitasking, along with better screen quality for vivid visuals, while the Dell G15 5520 holds its ground with a proficient CPU and ample RAM, but its edge in portability and battery life offers an advantage for users on the go. However, the Strix's greater performance and display capabilities imply reduced portability and shorter battery life, compared to the more balanced Dell G15 that trades off some screen quality and raw power for better mobility and longer unplugged usage.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G18 and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
