The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is a premium laptop with a large 18-inch display, known for excellent build quality and very good scores in both general performance and tasks like 3D rendering and engineering. However, the size makes it less portable and its battery life allows for about 8 hours of typical use, which may not be ideal for all-day use without access to a power outlet. With an Intel i9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card, it's well-suited for intensive gaming and will handle demanding engineering software and machine learning tasks with ease. Its backlit keyboard with number pad and additional features like Ethernet, HDMI, USB-C with charging, Thunderbolt, and high refresh rates make it a solid choice for gamers and professionals who need power more than portability. Engineering & Design:
4.7
The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is highly suitable for engineering and design tasks because it comes with a top-tier Intel i9 CPU and substantial RAM, ensuring smooth performance with complex software, while the dedicated Nvidia RTX GPU provides robust graphics power for rendering and simulations, and the high-quality IPS screen offers crisp visuals with excellent color accuracy, which is critical for detailed design work. However, its portability is compromised due to its larger size and heavier weight, which may not be ideal for those frequently on the move.
Gaming & AI:
4.6
The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is highly suited for gaming and 3D because of its powerful Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card, which can handle demanding visuals with ease, and its screen's high refresh rate of 240 Hz, which allows for very smooth imagery during fast-paced action.

NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | March 2023
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."
