The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is a better fit for dedicated gamers or professionals in need of high performance, with a typically larger, more colorful display and stronger graphics performance, ideal for demanding tasks and games. However, it's larger and heavier, reducing portability, and tends to be pricier. On the other hand, the Dell G15 5520 balances performance and cost, suitable for both gaming and general use without breaking the bank. While still a gaming laptop, it's more compact and easier to carry, but it may not handle intensive tasks as efficiently as the ASUS. Consider your priorities: if top performance for gaming or intensive tasks is paramount and budget is less of a concern, go with the ASUS; if you prefer a balance between performance, portability, and price, the Dell could be the better option. How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
