The Acer Swift X (2022) offers a good balance of portability and power at a midrange price, with strong general use performance, acceptable for engineering tasks and some gaming thanks to its dedicated Nvidia GPU. It boasts a better battery life than the ASUS Vivobook 16X, making it more suited for on-the-go use. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook 16X, while less expensive, provides superior performance in 3D and machine learning tasks due to its more powerful Nvidia GPU and higher screen refresh rate, but has a larger screen, making it less portable and with a shorter battery life, making it more stationary. If mobility and longer unplugged usage are your priorities, consider the Acer Swift X; if raw performance in specialized tasks and a larger display are crucial and you don't mind the shorter battery life, the ASUS Vivobook 16X could be the better choice. The ASUS Vivobook 16X is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Swift X (2022) is only fair.
The Acer Swift X comes with a decent GPU that supports moderate gaming and 3D applications, albeit with limitations at higher settings due to a standard screen refresh rate, providing an adequate but not exceptional visual experience. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook 16X includes a more robust GPU and possibly a higher refresh rate, offering smoother gaming and 3D performance, alongside a CPU and screen quality that further enhance its capability for visually demanding tasks.

The ASUS Vivobook 16X is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Swift X (2022) is good.
The ASUS Vivobook 16X is particularly suited for engineering and design tasks with its more powerful Intel i7-13700H CPU and Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU, compared to the Acer Swift X's Intel i7-1260P CPU and Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU, which may still perform well but not at the same level as the Vivobook. While the Acer Swift X offers better portability due to its lighter weight and smaller dimensions, the ASUS Vivobook 16X boasts a larger screen and potentially more vibrant colors for design work, but it is heavier and larger, making it less convenient to carry around.

The Acer Swift X has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16X for software development, while the ASUS Vivobook 16X has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
When considering general use, both the Acer Swift X and ASUS Vivobook 16X have screens that offer clear visuals and brightness that make everyday activities like web browsing and document editing comfortable. For engineering and design tasks, these laptops have color ranges that accommodate precision in color work, though may not fully cover professional color spaces. However, for gaming and 3D applications, they lack the high refresh rates preferred for smooth motion and may not provide the sharpest details due to their resolutions and panel types.

How the Acer Swift X (2022) and the ASUS Vivobook 16X compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
"I think the ASUS Vivobook 16X is fantastic. Great performance, decent battery life, good keyboard and trackpad, and a massive screen – just that the screen quality itself is kinda subpar. If you’re okay with the screen, then I think this is an okay laptop. However, I’d like to see a price drop."
