If you prioritize battery life and portability for general use and prefer a lightweight laptop with a fanless operation that is silent, then the LG Ultra 16 is the better choice as it has significantly longer battery life and is lighter than the Acer Nitro 5. However, if you need a laptop that is more suitable for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning tasks, the Acer Nitro 5 has a dedicated Nvidia graphics card that provides better performance in these areas. Keep in mind, though, that the Acer is heavier and has a shorter battery life, which could be a drawback if you often carry your laptop around or are away from a power source for extended periods. The Acer Nitro 5 15 is good for gaming and AI, while the LG Ultra 16 is only fair.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 offers a more gaming-oriented Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU and a higher screen refresh rate of 144Hz, making it better suited for gaming and 3D applications. In contrast, the LG Ultra 16 integrates a less powerful AMD Vega 8 GPU suitable for lighter tasks and a screen with a standard 60Hz refresh rate, thus providing a fair gaming and 3D performance but with a focus on general use and portability.

The Acer Nitro 5 15 has a better screen than the LG Ultra 16 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 offers a decent balance for everyday activities with its resolution and panel type providing clarity and reasonable brightness, but for engineering and design, the limited color gamut can affect precision in color work, while its lower refresh rate hampers the responsiveness needed for smooth gaming and 3D rendering. The LG Ultra 16, with similar fair resolution and brightness, works adequately for general tasks, but the color gamut again falls short for professional design, and despite its moderate panel quality, the lower refresh rate is not ideal for gaming or 3D applications where fluid motion is crucial. Both laptops compromise high-end graphics display features for affordability, making them suitable for casual and business users but less so for enthusiasts in design or gaming.

The LG Ultra 16 and Acer Nitro 5 15 are both good for general use.
The Acer Nitro 5 15, with its powerful Intel i5 processor and Nvidia RTX graphics, caters to general use by delivering solid performance and a quality keyboard, but it's heavier and has a shorter battery life than the ultra-portable LG Ultra 16, which offers a lighter build, longer battery life, and silent operation for everyday tasks thanks to the AMD Ryzen 7 processor with integrated graphics, though it may not handle intensive graphics tasks as well. Both laptops have similar RAM and high-quality IPS displays, but the LG's screen has a higher resolution and aspect ratio for better vertical screen real estate, and the Acer might have an advantage in heat management due to its gaming-oriented design.

How the Acer Nitro 5 15 and the LG Ultra 16 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."
"Unlike the gram, the Ultra PC isn't designed to be as lightweight as possible. The 16-inch laptop is a whole 400 g (0.88 lb) heavier than its 16-inch gram counterpart partly because its chassis is not made of magnesium. Other than that, the Ultra PC seems like a copy of the gram – but with longer battery life, lower noise levels, and a clean, delicate look."
