The Acer Nitro 5 15 offers a solid combination of components ideal for gaming and engineering tasks at a somewhat lower price, but it's heavier, making it less portable. If an emphasis on screen real estate and vibrant colors is important for your work or entertainment, the ASUS Vivobook 16X provides a larger, higher resolution display with better color coverage and a slightly lighter build, though at a somewhat higher cost. In terms of performance for tasks like 3D modeling, machine learning, or intensive gaming, the ASUS has a slight edge with its processor and graphics card. However, for those mindful of spending and needing a device that leans into gaming aesthetics, the Acer is a suitable option with a robust battery life and performance for general use and engineering applications. The ASUS Vivobook 16X has a better screen than the Acer Nitro 5 15 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, a laptop like the Acer Nitro 5 15, despite being marketed toward gamers, typically prioritizes specifications like processing power and graphics over screen resolution and brightness, resulting in a display that's adequate for everyday tasks but lacks the superior visual quality found in the ASUS Vivobook 16X, which offers a higher resolution and brightness. When it comes to engineering and design, professionals require accurate color representation, which is why the ASUS Vivobook 16X's screen, with better coverage of color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, is more suitable than the Acer Nitro 5 15's display that might not render colors as vividly or precisely. However, neither the Acer Nitro 5 15 nor the ASUS Vivobook 16X is ideal for 3D gaming or modeling, as both displays lack the high refresh rates needed for smooth imagery, although they may provide adequate resolution and panel quality for less demanding games or models.

The ASUS Vivobook 16X and Acer Nitro 5 15 are both good for gaming and AI.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 stands out for gaming and 3D use with its higher screen refresh rate, making it well-suited for fast-paced visuals, and it carries a dedicated gaming GPU capable of enhanced graphics rendering like Ray Tracing. Meanwhile, the ASUS Vivobook 16X, with a more powerful CPU and high-performing GPU, also supports Ray Tracing, and has a decent screen refresh rate that ensures smooth gaming and 3D experiences, although slightly lower than the Acer's, but it offers a higher resolution screen for better overall screen quality.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers ASUS Vivobook 16X to be very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Nitro 5 15 is good.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 is generally good for engineering and design tasks, equipped with a solid processor and graphics card, and adequate RAM and storage, but its screen lacks the superior color accuracy and resolution found on the ASUS Vivobook 16X, which features a higher-end processor, more powerful graphics, and a screen that's not only larger but offers better clarity, brightness, and more accurate colors for detailed design work. Additionally, while both laptops aren't the most portable, the ASUS is lighter and has a better battery capacity, traits that might favor those who prioritize mobility and longer work sessions away from power outlets.

How the Acer Nitro 5 15 and the ASUS Vivobook 16X compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."
"I think the ASUS Vivobook 16X is fantastic. Great performance, decent battery life, good keyboard and trackpad, and a massive screen – just that the screen quality itself is kinda subpar. If you’re okay with the screen, then I think this is an okay laptop. However, I’d like to see a price drop."
