The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro offers a larger screen with a higher resolution and might be prefered for intensive gaming and engineering tasks due to its more powerful GPU. However, it is heavier and provides shorter battery life than the Lenovo LOQ 15. The LOQ 15, being slightly more expensive, is slightly more portable, has a longer battery life, but with a less powerful GPU and lower screen resolution, it might not be as well-suited for demanding tasks. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is very good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo LOQ 15 is good.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is distinguished by a more powerful GPU and a higher screen refresh rate, enhancing gaming and 3D performance for more fluid visuals and improved responsiveness compared to the Lenovo LOQ 15, which has a capable but less robust GPU and lower refresh rate. The Pro 5i's screen also offers higher resolution and pixel density, contributing to sharper images, although its tradeoff includes a slightly heavier build and reduced battery life compared to the LOQ 15, which may be more suitable for those prioritizing longer unplugged use and portability.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i has a better screen than the Lenovo LOQ 15 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i excels in general use and engineering design due to its high resolution and brightness, alongside superior color accuracy, encompassing a wider range of colors which is vital for precision tasks. However, its lower refresh rate limits its appeal for gaming and 3D applications, where smooth motion is key. In contrast, the Lenovo LOQ 15's screen, while still providing adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks and design work, lacks the color range professionals may require, and the refresh rate shortfall also hinders its gaming and 3D performance.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Lenovo Legion Pro 5i to be very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo LOQ 15 is good.
The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro, with its higher-end CPU and GPU, brighter and higher resolution screen, is primed for demanding engineering tasks, but it's a bit heavier which could affect portability. In contrast, the Lenovo LOQ 15 trades off some screen brightness and GPU power for improved battery life and a slightly lighter build, which might be better for longer periods of use away from a power source.

How the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and the Lenovo LOQ 15 compare to other laptops
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
"Even after a short time with the LOQ 15, you'll find it has a lot going for it, but ultimately it's just "good"—not quite a star. The performance is respectable for the hardware it’s running, but Lenovo had to make some design sacrifices to trim the price. One of the better aspects is the keyboard, making it one of the better low-cost gaming laptops to actually put your hands on."
