The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a better screen than the HP Pavilion 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad offers a balance of resolution and brightness, which translates to a clearer and more vibrant display compared to the dimmer and less crisp screen of the HP Pavilion. Engineering and design applications benefit from the Lenovo's fair color accuracy and gamut coverage, making details more exact, whereas the HP's screen may not accurately represent colors or fine details. When it comes to Gaming and 3D, the Lenovo's fair performance falls short due to a standard refresh rate that can't match gaming-optimized laptops, while the HP's poor screen offers even less in terms of smooth motion and image clarity.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" and HP Pavilion 15 are both good for general use.
The HP Pavilion 15 offers a larger storage capacity and more RAM, likely boosting multitasking and data-heavy tasks, as well as a high battery capacity for extended unplugged usage, but with a TN screen that provides less vibrant colors and narrower viewing angles than an IPS display. Meanwhile, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" features a powerful processor and a high-quality IPS display with a full HD resolution for better screen clarity and color, a backlit keyboard, and superior heat management, though with lesser storage and RAM compared to the HP, which might limit performance with many applications open simultaneously.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" and HP Pavilion 15 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The HP Pavilion 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" are rated similarly for gaming and 3D because both come with integrated graphics—the Intel UHD Xe G4 and the AMD Vega 8 respectively—which are modest GPUs capable of handling light gaming and 3D tasks but not high-end gaming or advanced 3D applications. Additionally, both laptops have displays with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz, which can support smooth visuals for less demanding games, but might not provide the fluid experience desired by gamers who play fast-paced titles that benefit from higher refresh rates.

How the HP Pavilion 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"The HP Pavilion 15 carries a fair amount of power and a sharp display in its handsome slimline shell. It's not perfect, but it's a hard worker. This is wonderfully designed and totes a heck of a lot of desktop power, with the added benefit of a decent webcam and a full-sized keyboard. If you're getting down to business on a budget, it's a great fit."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
