The HP Omen 15 is designed for gaming and more intensive tasks with a powerful processor and graphics card, making it well-suited for engineering and 3D applications; however, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, which impacts portability. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 is lighter with longer battery life, making it highly portable and suitable for general use, but its integrated graphics are less capable of handling demanding engineering tasks or heavy gaming. If performance is paramount and you don't mind a heavier laptop with reduced battery life, choose the HP Omen 15; if you prioritize portability and battery life for everyday tasks, go with the Lenovo IdeaPad 1. The HP Omen 15 is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is only fair.
The HP Omen 15 boasts a stronger CPU, more RAM, and a much more powerful GPU than the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15", making it better suited for demanding engineering and design tasks that can benefit from higher processing power and graphics performance. While the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 has a lighter weight and slightly better portability, its more modest hardware means it will not perform as well in CPU/GPU-intensive applications, and its screen quality is less superior, affecting the precision required for detailed engineering work.

The HP Omen 15 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
If you prioritize screen quality for a variety of tasks not focused on gaming, the HP Omen 15 offers better clarity and vividness, which is ideal for both general usage and demanding engineering applications due to its high-resolution panel that reproduces colors more accurately. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15", while affordable, provides an adequate display for everyday tasks and some engineering work, but doesn't shine in color reproduction and crispness like the HP. However, both laptops may fall short for gaming and 3D modeling as they lack high refresh rate displays, which are crucial for smooth motion and responsiveness in fast-paced visual environments.

How the HP Omen 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"We consider around 1,260 Euros (~$1530) for a Ryzen 7 4800H, a GeForce RTX 2060, a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB dual-channel RAM to be a good offer that appeals to price-conscious gamers. Very high details are rarely a problem in the native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Buyers will also be spoiled with a top-notch battery life that even beats most other notebook classes. If HP now improves the speed of the WLAN module, the stability of the case and the repeatedly criticized picture quality, the competition will have to dress extra warmly."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
