The HP 15" Laptop is a budget-friendly option that's less expensive and includes an Intel i3 processor, UHD graphics, and 128GB of storage, making it suitable for general use and everyday tasks. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15", on the other hand, comes at a higher price point but offers more robust performance with an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, Vega 8 graphics, and 512GB of storage, making it more suitable for intensive tasks like engineering, 3D rendering, or machine learning. The Lenovo also has a touchscreen, which the HP lacks. If cost is a major factor and your needs are basic, the HP may suit you well, whereas if you're looking for more power and features like a touchscreen, the Lenovo could be worth the extra expense. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is good for general use, while the HP 15" Laptop is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is better suited for general use than the HP 15" Laptop primarily due to the IdeaPad having a more powerful CPU, more RAM, and a higher screen brightness which contributes to a more responsive and vibrant user experience. While both laptops are similarly portable and have comparable battery life, the Lenovo's better CPU and RAM especially stand out for tasks that are more demanding which gives it the edge for general use over the HP which might lag behind in multitasking and intensive applications.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a better screen than the HP 15" Laptop for content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the HP and Lenovo laptops offer screens that may not provide the sharpest images or the most vibrant colors due to moderate resolution and brightness, but they are adequate for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing. Engineering and design users may find the color accuracy and range lacking for professional work, as these screens likely don't cover the broader color gamuts necessary for precision work. While suitable for basic tasks, the refresh rate on these laptops is not high enough to support the fast-paced visuals required by modern gaming or smooth 3D modeling, leading to a less than ideal experience in these applications.

How the HP 15" Laptop and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"Chances are high that the HP 15 is one of the first laptops to pop up when you search for an inexpensive notebook. Indeed, its price tag is very tempting for many, and of course, this is the reason for its popularity. However, the HP 15" suffers from poor performance due to low power consumption. On the bright side, one of the good things about it is the port selection. On the inside, this includes two SODIMM slots for memory, an M.2 PCIe x4 slot for storage, and a SATA drive bay. However, the TN panel, and mediocre input devices are not ideal."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
