The Gigabyte Aorus 15P is very good for engineering and design, while the Gateway 14.1" is poor.
The Gateway 14.1" falls short for engineering and design primarily due to its low-end Intel Celeron processor, minimal RAM, and basic integrated graphics, which are underpowered for demanding software applications, and its screen, although high-resolution, offers lackluster color accuracy and brightness, limiting its effectiveness for design work.

The Gigabyte Aorus 15P has a better screen than the Gateway 14.1" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Gateway's fair screen quality is due to its adequate resolution and brightness, but those seeking a sharper image and better viewing angles might prefer the Gigabyte's good quality which includes its higher resolution display. In engineering and design, the Gigabyte Aorus 15P offers better screen quality with wider color gamuts, making it more suitable for color-sensitive work. "The Gateway Ultra Slim 14" is surprisingly quiet with long battery life. The inexpensive Gateway excels at maximizing performance per dollar with lots of RAM and storage, super-quiet fan, and a long battery life. It can even house up to two M.2 SSDs which we weren't expecting from such a cheap system. However, the iffy reliability of the keyboard and USB-C port on our test unit means users should double-check for these potential issues immediately after purchasing."
"The Aorus 15P is a high-end gaming laptop with fast 360 Hz display. Gaming performance in the Aorus 15P YD is very high thanks to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 installed here. However, with the use of the Intel Core i7-11800H, CPU performance also closes in on the strong competition from AMD. SSD performance is excellent as well, and it leaves no room for criticism. Thanks to the built-in Intel Core i7-11800H, the system performance of the Aorus 15P YD increases significantly."
