The Framework Laptop 13 (2023) tends to be more expensive but offers a high-quality build, better performance for general use and engineering tasks, and a highly portable design with a brighter, higher resolution display. It is also notable for its modular design which allows for easy upgrades and repairs. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15", on the other hand, provides a larger screen with touch capability, longer battery life, and it comes at a lower cost with more storage and RAM, but it's less portable due to its larger size and heavier weight, and it trails behind in build and display quality. If portability, display sharpness, and general performance are priorities, go for the Framework Laptop, but if you need a cost-effective, touch screen with longer battery life for less demanding tasks, the IdeaPad might be your choice. The Framework Laptop 13 (2023) is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is only fair.
The Framework Laptop 13 (2023) is better suited for engineering and design due to its higher resolution and brightness, better color coverage of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces, and the presence of a backlit keyboard and Thunderbolt ports, indicating more capable CPU and GPU performance and added connectivity benefits; the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" offers a larger screen and a longer battery life but falls short on screen quality and does not include the added connectivity of Thunderbolt ports. While the IdeaPad is bulkier, making the Framework more portable, both have fair keyboard quality, but the Lenovo has lower speaker and build quality, which could affect multimedia and long-term usage experiences.

The Framework Laptop 13 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Framework Laptop 13 likely offers a balanced screen resolution and brightness appropriate for general tasks and engineering design work, with screen colors covering a wide spectrum that meets the needs of professionals requiring accurate color representation. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" might provide adequate resolution and brightness for daily tasks and sufficient color coverage for non-specialist engineering design, but with less vibrancy or accuracy compared to higher-end screens. However, neither laptop's display is optimized for gaming or 3D applications, as they probably lack the high refresh rates required for smooth motion and immersive visuals in fast-paced gaming or 3D rendering environments.

How the Framework Laptop 13 (2023) and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"If you’re thinking of investing in your first Framework, now is the time. The kinks and rough edges have all been smoothed out and this is a very nice machine with a bright, upgradable future. The only reason I can think of to wait is the AMD model, which I’ll be sure to test as soon as I can get my hands on one."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
