The Dell G15 5520 is less expensive than the MSI Vector GP76 and offers good performance for general use, 3D/machine learning applications, and engineering work while maintaining a balance between battery life and portability. However, the MSI Vector GP76, although more costly, provides better performance, particularly for 3D tasks, machine learning, and engineering, thanks to its more powerful GPU and larger RAM capacity. It also has a larger screen and higher refresh rate, which is beneficial for intensive gaming and detailed work, but this comes at the expense of battery life and portability due to its larger size and weight. Choose the Dell if you prioritize affordability and a balance of portability and performance, or the MSI for higher-end performance and a better screen for gaming and detailed tasks, acknowledging it will be less portable and have shorter battery life. How the Dell G15 5520 and the MSI Vector GP76 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The MSI Vector GP76 12UGS is a gaming laptop on speed. The advantages are clear: The Vector GP76 is a real gamer with its 360 Hz display and super-fast response times. In addition, the Core i7-12700H has double the power of the CPU in its predecessor and another highlight is the Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti with a real power consumption of 150 watts. This places the device in the top range of our database. The Vector can also operate rather quietly, offers a full sound range, improved battery runtimes, a key-configurable RGB keyboard, a very stable chassis and good upgrade options. Moreover, the display produces a nice, rich and clear picture."
