The Dell G15 5520 has a larger screen and more storage, making it better for gaming and applications that need more space, and it usually costs less. However, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is more expensive, with a higher-resolution touchscreen that offers better color accuracy, a more portable design, and longer battery life, making it suitable for professionals who prioritize mobility and screen quality over storage capacity and screen size. Choose the Dell if gaming or cost is a priority, or the Surface Laptop Studio if portability and screen quality are more important. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio for software development, and content creation, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio boasts a higher resolution and brighter display, which enhances clarity and visibility, whereas the Dell G15 5520 offers acceptable quality but may not be as crisp or vivid. For engineering and design tasks, the Surface Laptop Studio's display covers a wider range of color gamuts, providing more accurate color representation which is crucial for detailed work, while the Dell's screen, though adequate, may not offer the same level of color precision. For gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short due to their lower refresh rates, which can limit the smoothness of fast-paced visuals, despite having sufficient resolution and panel technology for moderate performance in these areas.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"There’s no doubt that the Surface Laptop Studio is groundbreaking. We’ve come to expect such things from the Surface lineup, so it’s always nice to see a product that exceeds our expectations. The pull-forward laptop-screen concept has been tried before, but never in a device that’s so stylish and packed with innovative features like a haptic touchpad and robust digital stylus support."
