The Dell G15 5520 offers high performance for 3D, machine learning, and engineering tasks with its powerful processor and dedicated graphics, but it's heavier and has a shorter battery life. This makes it less portable compared to the Surface Laptop Go 2, which is significantly lighter, has a longer battery life, and is more affordable, but doesn't perform as well for intensive tasks due to its lower-end processor and integrated graphics. The Surface Laptop Go 2 is suitable for general use and has a higher resolution touchscreen with a unique aspect ratio, which may benefit productivity and media consumption. Choose the Dell if you need more power for demanding applications or the Surface for better portability and a touch interface at a lower price point. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 and Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 are both good for general use, though the Dell G15 5520 is somewhat better.
The Dell G15 5520 is better suited for general use due to its more powerful CPU, greater RAM, and a significantly larger storage capacity, essential for multitasking and handling more demanding applications with ease. In contrast, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 offers superior portability and longer battery life making it a more convenient choice for on-the-go usage but comes with a less powerful CPU and less RAM, which might limit performance during intensive tasks.

The Dell G15 5520 is good for gaming and AI, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 comes with a more powerful graphics processing unit (GPU) and higher screen refresh rate, which are crucial for smooth gaming and 3D performance; the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2, while offering adequate performance for less demanding tasks, doesn’t match up in terms of graphical capability or fluidity of motion on screen. While both have satisfactory CPUs and screen quality, the Dell's superior GPU and refresh rate give it a significant edge for gaming and 3D applications.

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 is better for engineering and design because it has a more powerful CPU, double the RAM, and a dedicated high-performance GPU, which are crucial for demanding applications and multitasking, and though its larger and heavier build makes it less portable, these features outweigh those of the lighter Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2, which offers a less powerful CPU and integrated graphics, less RAM, and a smaller screen, prioritizing portability and an excellent speaker quality over top-tier engineering capabilities.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 for gaming and AI, software development, and content creation.
For general use, both laptops offer panels with adequate resolution and brightness, ensuring clear and visible content during everyday tasks. In engineering and design applications, where precise color representation matters, they provide good coverage of color gamuts, which ensures that colors are reproduced accurately and consistently. However, for gaming and 3D applications, these laptops fall short because they lack the high refresh rates required for smooth, responsive motion, while their resolution and panel quality may not be optimal for the most immersive experience.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 review is a compact companion with old hardware. The Surface Laptop Go 2 shows some weaknesses. Microsoft didn't really develop the second generation of the Surface Laptop Go 2 any further but has only equipped it with a slightly more powerful Core i5 processor. However, the performance still remains at a fairly low level overall, but for many users, it definitely should still be sufficient for everyday tasks."
