The Dell G15 5520 is less expensive and offers solid performance for general use and gaming, with a good balance of battery life and portability. It's suitable if you need a cost-effective option with a decent battery life and the versatility to handle most tasks well, including general use and gaming. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion 7i Pro is more expensive, but it provides superior performance, especially for 3D rendering, machine learning, and intensive engineering tasks, along with a higher resolution and color accuracy on its display which is better for creative work. It also has a larger battery, but it's slightly heavier, which may affect portability. If your budget allows and you require top-tier performance and display for advanced applications, the Legion 7i Pro would be an excellent choice, albeit with a trade-off in price and portability. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i is very good for general use, while the Dell G15 5520 is good.
The Dell G15 5520 is good for general use with a strong CPU, ample RAM, and a high-quality screen, but it's less portable and has shorter battery life, whereas the Lenovo Legion 7i Pro, with an even stronger CPU, more RAM, and exceptional screen quality, excels in performance but also comes at the cost of portability and battery life. Although both offer substantial storage and decent heat management, the Legion 7i Pro's higher-tier specs make it very good for demanding tasks at the expense of being heavier and having more limited battery longevity.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Dell G15's screen provides a crisp and clear display with adequate brightness, which suits everyday tasks well, but its limited color range and standard refresh rate may not satisfy professional design needs or provide the immersive experience gamers seek. While the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i offers a display with superior color accuracy and broader color spectrums, making it ideal for engineering and design work, it also falls short for gaming, as its high-resolution screen doesn't prioritize the high refresh rate gamers need for smooth visuals. Ultimately, for users focused on non-gaming visual tasks, the Lenovo's screen may be more appealing, though both laptops may not suffice for high-end gaming experiences.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"Passionate gamers who want to play demanding modern titles with maximum details and don't mind spending the moolah will find the Lenovo Legion 7 Pro to be the right choice. The bright, sharp, and color-accurate 16:10 QHD 240 Hz display makes for an immersive viewing experience. The hardware is housed in a stylish chassis that feels premium and scores well in terms of workmanship and stability. Other aspects such as sound quality, input devices, and connectivity also seem to be near-perfect."
