The Lenovo Legion 7 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The Dell G15 5520 offers satisfactory clarity and brightness for everyday tasks and professional software use but lacks the high refresh rate that renders smooth visuals crucial for immersive gaming and 3D work. The Lenovo Legion 7 delivers crisp and vibrant images with a wider color range, making it well-suited for detailed engineering and design projects but, similar to the Dell, falls short for gaming due to a lower refresh rate. Both laptops bring solid performance for general and specialized applications, yet neither are optimized for the demanding needs of high-frame-rate gaming and fast-paced 3D rendering.

The Lenovo Legion 7 and Dell G15 5520 are both good for general use.
The Dell G15 5520 is a good fit for general use with its potent Intel CPU and substantial RAM, but its heavier weight and fair portability may limit its appeal to those who need to move around a lot, even though it has a strong battery life and nice screen resolution for daily tasks. The Lenovo Legion 7, on the other hand, offers similar RAM and a high-quality AMD CPU, comes with a sharper and brighter display, and is lighter in weight, which enhances its portability, making it a strong choice for users who prioritize screen quality and portability while still needing top-notch performance for a range of applications.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Lenovo Legion 7 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The Lenovo Legion 7 is a fast 16-inch gamer with 165 Hz display. The new Lenovo Legion 7 is a very good gaming notebook that, despite its comparatively compact compact 16-inch case, does not have to do without the most powerful components. Thanks to good cooling, no compromises are made in terms of performance. Both the Core i9-12900HX and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti perform at a very high level."
