If you're prioritizing gaming or 3D work and want better visual quality, the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro offers a more powerful GPU and a higher resolution screen with better color coverage. However, its battery life is shorter, making it less ideal for extended use without access to power. Conversely, the Dell G15 5520, while having a less powerful GPU and lower resolution display, provides longer battery life and might be more fitting for general use. Both have similar weights and are not particularly light, so carrying either around might not be effortless. They have the same amount of RAM and are similarly priced, so your decision should be based on the balance between display quality, performance, and battery life that best suits your needs. How the Dell G15 5520 and the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
