Choosing between the Dell G15 5520 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro largely depends on your needs. The Dell G15 is bulkier and slightly heavier, making it less portable but it offers better performance for gaming and engineering applications due to its powerful graphics card. Its display has a higher refresh rate but lower resolution, suitable for fast-paced games but not as sharp for detailed work. The Lenovo, on the other hand, is more portable with a lighter build and longer battery life. It has a higher resolution touchscreen that's better for multitasking and viewing high-resolution content but lacks the gaming performance of the Dell. If you primarily work with graphics-intensive applications or game frequently, the Dell G15 may be preferable, whereas if portability, battery life, and a sharper display are your priorities, the Lenovo Slim 7i Pro could serve you best. How the Dell G15 5520 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
