If you prioritize gaming or graphic-intensive tasks and value a more robust battery, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i may be better due to its latest generation graphics card and larger battery capacity. However, the Dell G15 5520 offers more storage out of the box and might perform slightly better in general and engineering use. The IdeaPad Pro 5i has a higher resolution display which provides better visuals, but the G15 5520 compensates with a faster refresh rate suitable for gaming. The IdeaPad Pro 5i is notably lighter, making it more portable. Choose the IdeaPad Pro 5i for a blend of battery, display quality, and portability, or the G15 5520 for gaming performance and storage. The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i for content creation, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
If you prioritize a crisp and bright display for everyday tasks like web browsing and document editing, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i, with its superior resolution and panel type, will ensure text and images are sharp and colors pop. For engineering and design work that demands accurate color representation, the Lenovo also offers a wider color gamut which means more precision in displaying various hues. However, for gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is key, both laptops have screens that don't refresh as quickly as specialized gaming models, potentially leading to less fluid visuals in fast-paced scenarios.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"Lenovo’s IdeaPad Pro 5i represents an impressive opening salvo for Meteor Lake in the ultraportable space against familiar foes from AMD and Apple. Not only does the Core Ultra 5 125H processor provide good performance across the board, but battery life remains a strong point against the Acer Swift Edge 16 with its AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor. It can’t quite match the endurance of the 15-inch MacBook Pro, but the gap is shrinking."
