The Dell G15 5520 is a higher-priced laptop with more robust performance features including larger storage, more RAM, a powerful Intel i7 processor, and Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics, making it well-suited for intensive tasks like gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering software. However, it's heavier and may be less convenient to carry around. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is more budget-friendly with less storage and RAM, an AMD Ryzen 5 processor with integrated graphics, and is lighter, hence more portable. It's adequate for general use but may struggle with more demanding applications. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 is good for general use, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 is considered good for general use largely due to its robust CPU and higher RAM, contributing to better performance, a larger screen with more vibrant colors, and higher storage capacity, although it is heavier and has a shorter battery life compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14", making the latter more portable and longer-lasting on a charge but less suitable for performance-intensive tasks due to its less powerful processor, lower RAM, and less color-accurate display, despite its better portability and battery life.

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520, with its powerful Intel i7 processor, ample RAM, and dedicated Nvidia RTX GPU, is well-suited for demanding tasks like engineering and design due to its robust performance capabilities and higher screen refresh rate for smoother graphics. Conversely, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 may be more portable and offer longer battery life, but it compromises on performance with its less capable Ryzen 5 integrated graphics and lower RAM, making it less ideal for intensive engineering software that demands significant processing power and graphics capability.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Dell G15 5520's screen offers higher resolution and brightness, which benefits general use and engineering tasks by providing clear, sharp images and good color representation, essential for detailed work. However, its lower refresh rate hampers the gaming experience where smooth visuals are key. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" provides a balanced display for general activities and engineering, but its fair screen specs and modest color gamut don't suit high-end design requirements or provide the fast refresh needed for immersive 3D experiences.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The low-priced IdeaPad 3 14 delivers on core functionality. Lenovo's IdeaPad 3 14 meets all the basic requirements for an inexpensive office laptop. The matte IPS display is bright enough, the performance is high for the class, and the input devices are rock solid. In addition, the mostly quiet operation including the useful performance modes, cool surface temperatures, easy maintainability as well as expandable working and mass storage all contribute to the IdeaPad 3 14's value proposition."
