If you're prioritizing raw power and future-proofing, the HP Omen 16, with a new generation CPU and better graphics, will handle demanding games and creative tasks more effectively. However, while the Dell G15 5520 offers a slightly older CPU and less powerful graphics, it may still meet your needs for less intensive work and gaming. The Omen has a larger screen and significantly longer battery life, making it great for longer usage away from a power source, yet the Dell is a bit heavier. Both have similar memory and storage, but the Omen has more expansion options, which could be important if you plan to upgrade. If you prefer a laptop with vibrant keyboard lighting, the Omen's RGB keyboard stands out compared to the Dell's blue backlit keyboard. Remember to consider these differences alongside the use you intend for your laptop, whether for gaming, professional applications, or general use. Give Feedback

The HP Omen 16 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
When considering a laptop primarily for general use, both the Dell G15 5520 and HP Omen 16 offer displays that perform well due to their sufficient resolution and brightness, providing clear and vivid images for daily tasks. For engineering and design work, where accurate color representation is crucial, their screens are well-regarded because they cover a wide range of color gamuts, ensuring that the colors you see are precise and consistent. However, for gaming and 3D applications where the smoothness of motion is key, both models fall short as they do not have the high refresh rates needed to keep up with fast-paced visuals, which could lead to less fluid and responsive gameplay.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the HP Omen 16 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
