The Dell G15 5520 is often less expensive and has a higher refresh rate, which could be beneficial for fast-paced gaming. However, the HP Omen 15 offers a more powerful graphics card with the RTX 3070 versus the G15's RTX 3060, which may deliver better performance for 3D rendering and intensive gaming. The Omen also boasts a significantly longer battery life, making it more suitable for use on the go. Each laptop features a similar screen size and resolution, RAM, and storage capacity, but the Omen's overall build is lighter and thinner, enhancing its portability. If you prioritize graphics performance and battery life, the HP Omen 15 may be the better choice, but for cost savings and a high refresh rate for smooth gaming, consider the Dell G15 5520. The HP Omen 15 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, and engineering and design.
For general use, both the Dell G15 5520 and the HP Omen 15 offer screens with clear resolution and adequate brightness, making text and images sharp and easy to view which is beneficial for activities like browsing and document editing. In engineering and design, these laptops have color reproduction capabilities that align well with industry standards, ensuring that colors in detailed diagrams and projects appear accurate and consistent. However, for gaming and 3D applications, their lower refresh rates could lead to less fluid motion and responsiveness, which is not ideal for high-speed graphics or fast-paced gaming scenarios where smooth visuals are critical.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the HP Omen 15 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"We consider around 1,260 Euros (~$1530) for a Ryzen 7 4800H, a GeForce RTX 2060, a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB dual-channel RAM to be a good offer that appeals to price-conscious gamers. Very high details are rarely a problem in the native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Buyers will also be spoiled with a top-notch battery life that even beats most other notebook classes. If HP now improves the speed of the WLAN module, the stability of the case and the repeatedly criticized picture quality, the competition will have to dress extra warmly."
