The Dell G15 5520 has a higher price but offers superior performance for intensive tasks such as 3D rendering, machine learning, or gaming thanks to its dedicated Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics. It also has a higher screen refresh rate which is beneficial for fast-paced gaming. On the other hand, the HP 17" Laptop is less expensive and offers good general use performance. It is lighter and more portable with a larger screen, though it lacks the high performance GPU of the Dell, making it less suitable for graphically demanding tasks. Your choice should depend on your need for portability versus performance in demanding applications. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 and HP 17" Laptop are both good for general use, though the Dell G15 5520 is somewhat better.
The Dell G15 5520 is equipped with a high-performance CPU and a dedicated GPU, making it well-suited for more demanding tasks and casual gaming, though its battery life and heavier weight may limit portability compared to the HP 17" Laptop, which offers a larger screen with high brightness and color coverage, suitable for media consumption and general tasks but with integrated graphics that are less suited for intensive applications. Both laptops have ample RAM for multitasking and good screen quality, with differences in size and resolution as well as weight influencing their ease of transport and use on the go.

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the HP 17" Laptop is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design because it comes with a robust Intel i7 processor, a high-performance Nvidia RTX GPU, and a quality screen with a higher refresh rate, all of which are vital for demanding tasks and detail-oriented work. In contrast, the HP 17" Laptop, while still a good fit for such tasks, features an AMD Ryzen processor integrated with Vega 8 graphics and a larger but less color-accurate screen, offering a more lightweight option but with modest graphics performance in comparison.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the HP 17" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Dell G15 5520 likely offers a high-resolution display with decent brightness and color accuracy, making it suitable for tasks in engineering and general use where clarity and color representation are essential. For gaming and 3D, its screen quality is poor possibly due to a lower refresh rate, which is critical for smooth motion and gameplay. The HP 17” Laptop, having fair screen quality for both general use and engineering, suggests it may have adequate resolution and acceptable color accuracy but falls short in specialized areas like color gamuts or superior brightness, while its poor performance for gaming and 3D may result from similar compromises in refresh rate and possibly lower resolution.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the HP 17" Laptop compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
