If you prioritize high performance for gaming or intensive engineering tasks, the Dell G15 5520 is a solid choice and also less expensive, but it's heavier and larger, making it less portable. On the other hand, the Dell Precision 5470, while more expensive, offers a better battery life, a lighter and more compact design, making it far more portable and suitable for business use. Additionally, the Precision has a higher resolution and better color coverage, which might be preferable for tasks that require color accuracy like photo editing. However, the G15's higher refresh rate display is better suited for gaming. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 is good for gaming and AI, while the Dell Precision 5470 is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 is well-suited for gaming and 3D tasks owing to its Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU and high screen refresh rate of 165Hz, which are very important for smooth graphics and responsiveness. In contrast, the Dell Precision 5470, though equipped with the Nvidia RTX A1000 GPU suited for professional 3D applications and a decent screen refresh rate of 60Hz, may not match the gaming performance of the G15 due to its lower refresh rate, but it does offer a higher screen pixel density and brightness, contributing to overall screen quality.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Dell Precision 5470 for gaming and AI, while the Dell Precision 5470 has a better screen for general use, engineering and design, and content creation.
For general use, both the Dell G15 5520 and Precision 5470 offer displays with satisfactory resolution and brightness, making them suitable for everyday tasks like web browsing and document editing. Engineering and design professionals will appreciate the accurate color representation on both models, as they cover a wide range of color gamuts needed for precise work. However, gamers and 3D designers may find these laptops lacking due to their lower refresh rates, which could lead to less smooth visuals in fast-paced games or when working with complex 3D models.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Dell Precision 5470 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The Dell Precision 5470 is a mobile workstation that's far more portable than most alternatives. Between its slim 14-inch design and top-quality MIL-STD 810H build, it's one of the best options around for taking professional-grade performance on the road or to the job site. There are tradeoffs for its portability, and users of the most demanding, graphics-intensive applications will need to carry something heavier. But the Dell's exceptional battery life underscores its desirability as the most portable workstation we've seen."
