The Dell G15 5520 is a stronger performer suited for intensive gaming or engineering tasks due to its superior graphics card, but it's heavier and may offer less battery life, making it less convenient for frequent travel. Conversely, the Dell Latitude 14 7490, while less costly and offering better battery life, is tailored for general business use with adequate performance for everyday tasks but may not handle high-end gaming or resource-intensive applications effectively. Consider the Latitude if you prioritize portability and value, or the G15 if your focus is on higher performance for specialized software or gaming needs. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 and Dell Latitude 14 7490 are both good for general use, though the Dell G15 5520 is somewhat better.
The Dell G15 5520 offers robust performance with a powerful CPU and dedicated GPU, making it suitable for demanding tasks and some gaming on top of general use, but this comes at the cost of heavier weight and shorter battery life compared to the Dell Latitude 14 7490, which favors portability and longer battery life, reflected in its lighter build and integrated graphics, making it well-suited for everyday tasks on the go, with sufficient power for general use and excellent screen quality. However, the Latitude's older CPU may not keep pace with the G15's more recent and powerful processor in more intensive applications.

The Dell G15 5520 is good for gaming and AI, while the Dell Latitude 14 7490 is poor.
The Dell G15 5520 is better suited for gaming and 3D tasks because it has a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card which is superior for these purposes compared to the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 (i7-8650U) in the Dell Latitude 14 7490. Furthermore, the G15 5520 has a higher screen refresh rate, making it more responsive and smoother during fast-paced games than the Latitude 7490, which has a lower refresh rate more suitable for standard business tasks and casual use.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Dell Latitude 14 7490 for general use, gaming and AI, software development, and content creation.
The Dell G15 5520 excels in general use and engineering due to its higher resolution and brightness, making texts crisp and colors vibrant, which are crucial for these tasks. Its display, however, falls short for gaming and 3D applications, as it lacks a high refresh rate needed for smooth motion. On the other hand, the Dell Latitude 14 7490 provides fair performance for general tasks with adequate brightness and resolution but stands out in engineering for its color accuracy, though like the G15, it's not ideal for gaming or high frame rate 3D work due to a standard refresh rate.

How the Dell G15 5520 and the Dell Latitude 14 7490 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
"The Dell Latitude 7490's got the speed you need (and then some), a keyboard that's comfortable enough for writing all day long and a battery that supports a full 8-hour workday. If only the display were brighter and it managed heat better. If you need every minute of battery life you can get, the extended-battery version of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 lasts 8 hours longer than the Latitude 7490, but its display is much less colorful."
