If you require a powerful machine for intensive tasks such as gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning, the Dell Alienware X17 R2, although more expensive, is likely to offer superior performance and advanced features specific to these activities. However, for everyday tasks like web browsing, office applications, or less demanding programs, the HP Victus 15 will likely suffice and save you money. The Alienware is also usually heavier and less portable, which can be a downside if you frequently travel or need to carry your laptop around. Consider your primary use case and whether the performance gains with the Alienware justify its higher price and reduced portability compared to the more budget-friendly and portable HP Victus 15. NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | May 2022
"The Alienware x17 R2 recognizes targets a significantly higher TGP of 175 W for a roughly 30 percent performance boost over laptops running on the ~100 W GeForce RTX 3080 Ti like the Razer Blade 15 or Gigabyte Aero YE5. Similar results can be found through the CPU as well. This single aspect of the Alienware is perhaps the biggest differentiating factor between it and other ultrathin gaming laptops. Of course, the "performance at all cost" approach comes with drawbacks. Power consumption in particular is through the roof and battery life suffers because of it even when on the lowest performance settings."

Rtings

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
