For general use, a laptop like the Dell Alienware X17 R2 with a high-resolution and bright screen will offer crisp and clear visuals, which are enhanced by the panel type, providing an overall very good experience. When it comes to engineering and design, this laptop's ability to display a wide range of colors accurately is crucial, and the high color gamut coverage ensures true-to-life colors, making it very good for those activities. However, for gaming and 3D, the refresh rate takes center stage for smooth motion, and both the ASUS and Dell models may not offer the high refresh rates typically preferred by gamers, leading to a less optimal experience for those specific tasks.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and the Dell Alienware X17 R2 compare to other laptops
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
"The Alienware x17 R2 recognizes targets a significantly higher TGP of 175 W for a roughly 30 percent performance boost over laptops running on the ~100 W GeForce RTX 3080 Ti like the Razer Blade 15 or Gigabyte Aero YE5. Similar results can be found through the CPU as well. This single aspect of the Alienware is perhaps the biggest differentiating factor between it and other ultrathin gaming laptops. Of course, the "performance at all cost" approach comes with drawbacks. Power consumption in particular is through the roof and battery life suffers because of it even when on the lowest performance settings."
