The HP Victus 15 is a laptop that's easy on your wallet and suitable for general use and light gaming, thanks to its solid overall performance capabilities. Equipped with a mid-range processor and a dedicated graphics card, it can handle tasks ranging from daily productivity to 3D games at modest settings. Its IPS display with a full HD resolution offers good color and fast motion, making it decent for media consumption and entry-level creative work. However, the laptop is slightly heavier and has a modest battery life, impacting its portability. It does come with some convenient features like a backlit keyboard with a number pad, RAM and storage expandability options, and is pre-installed with Windows 11. If you're looking for a machine with good build quality and can handle a variety of tasks without breaking the bank, the HP Victus 15 is worth considering, but if you need something for more intensive gaming or engineering work, you might want to look at higher-end models. Build Quality:
4.2
PerfectRec’s Build Quality Score incorporates case materials, display and keyboard flex, hinge quality, chassis rigidity, and overall reliability. Our assessment of build quality includes many details that are difficult to quantify. Our laptop experts use their best judgment to produce the final score.
Keyboard Quality:
4.2
The Keyboard Quality score is based on the PerfectRec experts’ assessment of tactile feedback, typing comfort, keyboard reliability and typing noise.
General Use:
4.1
PerfectRec’s General Use Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for general productivity, web browsing, streaming, video calls, and running a wide variety of apps and programs. The most important factors in this score include CPU performance, amount of RAM, screen quality, storage, and battery life. Keyboard quality, speaker quality, low fan noise, heat management, and to a lesser extent webcam quality are all moderately important factors for this score.
Content Creation:
4.1
PerfectRec’s Content Creation Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for photo editing, and video editing work. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. Heat management, storage, keyboard and speaker quality are also incorporated, with fan noise rounding out this score.
Software Development:
4.0
PerfectRec’s Software Development Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for software development. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. PerfectRec’s Operating Noise Score is based on fan noise measurements. Laptops with a fanless design, such as Macbooks, receive the maximum score.
Engineering & Design:
3.7
The HP Victus 15 is suited for engineering and design use because it features a powerful Intel i5 processor paired with a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU, which are crucial for demanding software applications, alongside 8GB of RAM that supports multitasking efficiently. In addition, its 15.6-inch IPS screen provides clear and precise visuals with good color accuracy, essential for detailed design work.
Battery Life:
3.7
PerfectRec’s Battery Life rating is based on hours of battery life in typical usage scenarios.
Gaming & AI:
3.4
The HP Victus 15 is capable of gaming and 3D tasks due to its Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU, which supports modern games and 3D applications, and a screen refresh rate of 144Hz that allows for smoother visuals during fast-paced action. However, the performance is balanced by a mid-range Intel i5 CPU and an IPS screen with good, but not outstanding, color accuracy and brightness, which somewhat limits its potential for the most intensive tasks and professional-grade visual work.

Rtings

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
