The Dell Alienware m15 R7 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the Dell G15 5520 has a better screen for content creation, and software development.
When considering screen quality for general use, the Dell Alienware m15 R7 stands out with superior resolution and brightness, providing crisp, clear images, making text easy to read, and offering vibrant colors which enhances the overall viewing experience. For engineering and design, the Alienware's wide color gamuts ensure accurate color reproduction, which is crucial for tasks like photo editing or CAD work where color precision matters. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the relatively lower refresh rate of the Alienware could lead to less fluid motion and slower response times compared to laptops with higher refresh rates, which is a downside for fast-paced interactive content.

How the Dell Alienware m15 R7 and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
"The Alienware M15 offers solid gaming and leading endurance. It makes the most of its CPU and GPU while delivering stellar battery life for a gaming laptop. Opening the lid presents a full-size keyboard with honeycomb cutouts above it on the deck. An oblong RBG lightning element surrounds the entire rear panel and can be color-synced with the other lights on the laptop. There’s not a lot to dislike about the M15 Its productivity performance lagged in some areas, particularly in the storage benchmark, and it’s a bit heavy. Alienware has a clear winner here with the M15 based on its strong overall performance and endurance."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
