The ASUS Zenbook 14X offers a balance of cost and capability, with its lighter weight and compact size making it ideal for portability. It has a high-quality OLED screen but less powerful graphics compared to its counterpart. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aorus 17G focuses on higher-end performance, particularly for gaming or intensive tasks, with a dedicated gaming graphics card and larger display. This model, however, is significantly heavier and less portable. Consider the Aorus 17G if performance is a priority and you're less concerned about carrying the laptop around, otherwise, the Zenbook 14X might be a better fit for everyday use with the advantage of being easier to transport. The ASUS Zenbook 14X has a better screen than the Gigabyte Aorus 17G for general use, engineering and design, and software development, while the Gigabyte Aorus 17G has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X boasts a high-resolution display that, combined with its brightness and panel type, provides sharp and vivid images for everyday tasks and professional design work, where accurate color representation is crucial. However, for gaming and 3D applications, its lower refresh rate can result in less fluid motion, which might detract from fast-paced visuals. In contrast, the Gigabyte Aorus 17G, while offering suitable color accuracy and good resolution for general use and engineering, also falls short for gaming due to its insufficient refresh rate for the smoothest gameplay experience.

How the ASUS Zenbook 14X and the Gigabyte Aorus 17G compare to other laptops
"With the Zenbook 14X, Asus has a 14-incher in its range that is - mostly - a joy to use. First, there is the colorful OLED panel with 3K resolution that displays the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. The Zenbook is also at the forefront in terms of workmanship, input devices and connections with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports and a generous keyboard layout. A pleasure to use, the Zenbook 14X is a solid, very well-built subnotebook that sits well on the table. A runtime of five hours, however, is below average for a high-end subnotebook nowadays. The OLED screensaver causes increased power consumption when in idle mode."
"The Aorus 17G isn't among the top RTX 3080 laptops due to its relatively low TGP of 105 watts. The device's gaming performance is average for an RTX 3080. For maximum performance, competitors like the Lenovo Legion 7 or the Alienware m17 R4 are recommended With the Aorus 17G, Gigabyte delivers a well-rounded gaming laptop. However, the device generates a high noise level. Throttling is not an issue. The CPU and GPU can develop their performance uniformly. Nevertheless, the device produces a lot of noise under load - more than many competitors."
