The ASUS Zenbook 14X is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" is only fair.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X is preferred for engineering and design due to its powerful Intel i7 processor, dedicated Nvidia GPU, double the RAM, and superior OLED screen with a high resolution and wide color coverage, essential for detail-oriented tasks. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" has a capable AMD Ryzen 7 processor with integrated graphics, which suits less demanding work, and although it has a larger IPS screen, it is limited by its lower resolution and significantly poorer color range, affecting visual precision.

For general use, the ASUS Zenbook 14X offers a vibrant, high-resolution display with great brightness, which enhances your daily activities like browsing and watching videos. Engineers and designers will appreciate the Zenbook's wide color coverage, enabling more accurate color work for tasks such as photo editing or CAD. However, gamers and those into 3D modeling may find the Zenbook lacking due to its lower refresh rate, which can't deliver as smooth visuals in fast-paced scenarios compared to displays designed specifically for gaming.

How the ASUS Zenbook 14X and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" compare to other laptops
"With the Zenbook 14X, Asus has a 14-incher in its range that is - mostly - a joy to use. First, there is the colorful OLED panel with 3K resolution that displays the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. The Zenbook is also at the forefront in terms of workmanship, input devices and connections with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports and a generous keyboard layout. A pleasure to use, the Zenbook 14X is a solid, very well-built subnotebook that sits well on the table. A runtime of five hours, however, is below average for a high-end subnotebook nowadays. The OLED screensaver causes increased power consumption when in idle mode."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is convincing due to its long battery life. The device scores points especially with its large battery and long battery runtimes combined with its low consumption. The CPU and GPU perform in the test as one would expect, and in line with what was familiar from the somewhat smaller 14-inch sister model, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14."
