Considering the tradeoffs between the ASUS Zenbook 13 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, the ASUS Zenbook 13 offers higher graphics performance and a more compact, lightweight design with a superior OLED display, making it suitable for tasks that require good visual quality and a machine that's easy to carry around. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 provides a larger screen size with an IPS display and comes with Windows 11 out of the box. It's also less expensive but with lower performance graphics, which might be more suitable for general use like web browsing and office applications without paying a premium for high-end features. If portability and high-quality visuals are your priority and you're willing to spend more, the ASUS Zenbook 13 stands out, whereas the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 caters to those seeking a standard, cost-effective laptop for everyday tasks. The ASUS Zenbook 13 is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is only fair.
The ASUS Zenbook 13 uses a Ryzen 7 CPU with integrated Vega 8 graphics and has an OLED screen, making it suitable for engineering and design work, but its 8GB of RAM may limit performance with complex tasks. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, while also having 8GB of RAM, is powered by a less capable Ryzen 3 CPU with Vega 6 graphics, and an IPS screen, which may affect its performance and screen quality for similar tasks.

The ASUS Zenbook 13 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and content creation.
The ASUS Zenbook 13 likely offers a high-resolution display with great brightness and a sophisticated panel type like IPS, providing crisp and vivid images for general use and color-accurate representations essential for engineering and design tasks. However, its lower refresh rate might make it less suitable for 3D applications and gaming, where smoother motion is crucial. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 may have a more standard display with adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks, but it falls short in both color accuracy for professional design work and refresh rate for gaming or 3D rendering.

The ASUS Zenbook 13 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 are both good for general use.
The ASUS Zenbook 13, with a higher-performance CPU and a superior screen that boasts OLED technology and better color accuracy, is well suited for a range of tasks including those that benefit from a vibrant and sharp display. In comparison, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3's lower-tier processor and lower screen color accuracy make it less optimal for intensive tasks, although its slightly larger screen may be appreciated for everyday use and it boasts a recent version of the operating system, Windows 11.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers ASUS Zenbook 13 to be only fair for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is poor.
The ASUS Zenbook 13 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 are both fair for gaming and 3D tasks because they come with integrated graphics, the Vega 8 and Vega 6 respectively, which can handle general gaming but may not perform well in more demanding games or 3D applications. Both have the same screen refresh rate, which is suitable for casual gaming, but not ideal for competitive gaming where higher refresh rates can offer smoother visuals; they also have good screen quality but the ASUS has an OLED display, which generally offers better color and contrast than the Lenovo's IPS display.

How the ASUS Zenbook 13 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ZenBook 13 is a compact 13-inch laptop with a fast Ryzen 7 5800U and OLED display. The subnotebook is also light and the modern design is convincing. The selection of high-quality materials make the device not only light, but also very stable. In addition, the visuals and haptics of the device offers a high-quality impression. The AMD Ryzen 7 5800U is a very good fit for the ZenBook 13, ensuring a high performance in the test. However, in terms of the 3D performance, we also notice that the Vega architecture is beginning to hit its limits."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
