Ratings by Category

Portability:
4.8
PerfectRec’s portability rating takes into account the volume and thickness of the laptop as well as its weight.
General Use Screen Quality:
4.5
The general use screen score is based on the screen technology, contrast ratio, resolution, brightness, color gamut and color accuracy. This score does not take into account specialized display features for specific use cases, such as high refresh rate for gaming.
Operating Noise:
4.5
PerfectRec’s Operating Noise Score is based on fan noise measurements. Laptops with a fanless design, such as Macbooks, receive the maximum score.
Content Creation:
4.3
PerfectRec’s Content Creation Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for photo editing, and video editing work. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. Heat management, storage, keyboard and speaker quality are also incorporated, with fan noise rounding out this score.
Battery Life:
4.3
PerfectRec’s Battery Life rating is based on hours of battery life in typical usage scenarios.
General Use:
4.2
The ASUS Zenbook 13 excels in general use due to its powerful AMD Ryzen CPU and ample 8GB RAM which ensure smooth multitasking and speedy performance. Additionally, it boasts a high-quality OLED screen, is lightweight and thin for superior portability, and offers a long battery life which is convenient for everyday activities.
Build Quality:
4.2
PerfectRec’s Build Quality Score incorporates case materials, display and keyboard flex, hinge quality, chassis rigidity, and overall reliability. Our assessment of build quality includes many details that are difficult to quantify. Our laptop experts use their best judgment to produce the final score.
Engineering & Design:
4.1
The ASUS Zenbook 13 has a capable AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and 8GB of RAM which provide satisfactory performance for engineering and design tasks, but the integrated Vega 8 GPU may limit the performance in GPU-intensive applications. The OLED screen offers excellent color coverage and contrast which is beneficial for design work, but the screen is only 13.3 inches which might not be ideal for users who prefer larger displays for detailed engineering work and multitasking.
Software Development:
4.1
PerfectRec’s Software Development Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for software development. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. Heat management, storage, keyboard and speaker quality are also incorporated, with fan noise rounding out this score.
Keyboard Quality:
4.0
The Keyboard Quality score is based on the PerfectRec experts’ assessment of tactile feedback, typing comfort, keyboard reliability and typing noise.
Gaming & AI:
3.2
The ASUS Zenbook 13 has a modest integrated GPU and a standard screen refresh rate of 60Hz, which can handle gaming and 3D applications but may not provide the high-quality visual experience or smoothness that dedicated gaming laptops offer.

NotebookCheck

Sebastian Bade | May 2021
"The Asus ZenBook 13 is a compact 13-inch laptop with a fast Ryzen 7 5800U and OLED display. The subnotebook is also light and the modern design is convincing. The selection of high-quality materials make the device not only light, but also very stable. In addition, the visuals and haptics of the device offers a high-quality impression. The AMD Ryzen 7 5800U is a very good fit for the ZenBook 13, ensuring a high performance in the test. However, in terms of the 3D performance, we also notice that the Vega architecture is beginning to hit its limits."
